EVERYTHING MEANS NOTHING (PT.1)
GUYS. It’s here. Part one of Blackbear’s LP. It’s titled, “everything means nothing.” Spicy, right?
If you’re new here, hi, I’m going to spew absolute nonsense about new music. It’s my normal in this neck of the woods. However, if you get through all my babbling, you could be lucky enough to find yourself a link to his new merch website as well. I don’t want to sound biased here, but when I saw the sneak peak...I was blown away. Anyways, let’s talk about the new tunes first.
So, if you’re like me, you wait around until 9pm for albums to drop. Why wait until the morning? That’s so boring. If you’re also like me, you’ll be extremely confused at first to see that there isn’t a set LP link. Every song is listed as a single. Weird flex, but kinda down. He’s really making us work for the new music. However, this morning, he pinned a playlist made by a fan that conveniently has all six songs in one place. Just try it the hard way first, it was way more satisfying.
Let’s start with my favorite, “i felt that.” This song is EVERYTHING your Summer 2020 heart has been craving. Honestly, all six songs are, but this one...hits different. To sum the song up in the most simple sense, it’s about love fizzling out. He goes on to say she used to make him want to live, and now he wants to die. Tragic if you think about it, but those familiar, know this is his aesthetic. The lyrics are a lot less miserable being paired with a fun beat. It goes to show that even though relationships fade, and people lie, you can still dance it out. Toward the end of the song, he did something that really made me cackle. He turned “Live, Laugh Love,” into an iconic lyric. You’ll just have to go listen for yourself. If I had to give one piece of advice, it’s go listen to this song and take a drive around the block. Roll the windows down, it will give you that Summer feeling.
Next, we have, “i feel bad.” This song is my second favorite. It also has such a fun beat, like COVID-19 really wanted us to have a bummer Summer, but Blackbear came to save us all. This song speaks to me. It’s a diss track so we all know how I’m feeling. Honestly you guys, I swear I don’t have this many boy problems. I don’t know why I love diss tracks so much. Or maybe I do, that’s open to interpretation. ANYWAYS. This song is throwing it in someone’s face that the only thing they’re good at is making other people hurt. Like any normal person, Blackbear is saying he doesn’t feel good due to the actions or words of this other human. Get these toxic vibes out of here in song form, we have to applaud.
Lastly, we have, “i feel 2 much.” I mean, c’mon, we can’t have a hot girl Summer without getting in our feelies a LITTLE BIT. Astrologically, it is still also Cancer season. If you haven’t cried yet, now’s your chance. I love that he starts the song singing about how he doesn’t want to feel too much, so he doesn’t want the other person to speak to him or call. I’m just going to roast myself here and say I wish I had that kind of energy. Maybe now I can. I am usually the type to feel too much, as a product of my own stupid actions. Let’s make a pact right here, right now, to change that for me. I’m the same as Blackbear, I’m done feeling too much. Don’t call me, thanks. While this song is definitely more mellow, I have the perfect aesthetic for it. If you listened to me, and decided to take a little drive and listen to the LP. End with this song. If it’s golden hour, START WITH IT. It’s the most calming vibe. Is it a little sad? Yes. However, it’s like a peaceful sadness. When you know you need to cut off that toxic person, and now you’re basking in the aftermath. I have no other way to describe the melody. It just reminds me of sunsets on Pacific Coast Highway. Let me know your thoughts, PLEASE.
Anyways, while I did mention that there were six songs, I’ve already talked about the other three in other posts. So, I won’t make you sit through that again. Now, let’s talk about merch news. So, if you check out the link below you’ll notice from first glance, nothing has changed. However, when you click it, you’ll see that it got the sexiest makeover a website could get. Seriously, I have been obsessed. It’s interactive, giving you the opportunity to click around and basically design your own merch. You can pick the style and you can pick the colors. What more could you want? Clicking further around, you can watch his new music video too. I don’t know about you, but I personally love spending my money while an awesome music video is playing in the background. No pressure.
So, click around the website, and blast the tunes on Spotify. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
‘Til next timeeeeeeeee
