EVERYTHING MEANS NOTHING
THE DAY HAS COME.
The finale if you will...of my Blackbear rants. What a journey it has been, but it’s been so worth the wait. With every surprise drop of singles, to the new merch leading up to this point...it’s been wild. We even have a special guest on this album to talk about. It even took ME by surprise.
So, let’s talk about the album shall we?
It would be a crime if I went song by song, so I won’t. That gives you more time to actually look up the songs yourselves. I’m sure you’re also noticing that this is going up on a SATURDAY. Don’t worry, I am not working. If I could make a guess, I am probably napping. Or crying to this album. I cannot speak for the future me. However, I wanted to give you all a day to fully process this album before shoving my opinions down your throats. How polite of me, right?
Now, we can get to the good stuff. I know I previously stated that I am anti-listening to albums in song order. However, for some reason this one just felt right?? Maybe it’s because I’m such a sucker for “hot girl bummer.” So starting the album journey with that song felt right. Lucky for you, I’ve already talked your ears off about the first half of the album, so we can get on to the rest. FOR SOME REASON…”sobbing in cabo” really spoke to me. I’ve never even been to cabo, okay? Yet I am sitting here really thinking about times I’ve cried in Cabo-esque places. Definitely is not a frequent occurrence. However, as someone who preaches about hot girl summer, I can also tell you that I too, am a simp. I’m not above you. I have definitely cried over my fair share of love mishaps. I have terrible taste in men, I will admit that. This song reminds me of that side of me, stupid and missing someone who isn’t right for me. AND I LOVE IT.
We have to talk about the next song, because the title honestly attacked me. It also may or may not have our special guest. TREVOR DANIEL. You all know we love that little sad boy around here too. Simps make the best music, am I wrong? This song is called “clown.” Yep...feeling pretty attacked. While I am a clown because of my choices in men, this song is more about pretending to be happy with said choices, when you really aren’t. Get it? Clowns put on an act. Please tell me someone understands. Anyways, I think Trevor Daniel was the perfect person to feature on this album. Definitely don’t think he’s a clown, but he’s the only other sad boy who matches Blackbear’s energy right now. Sad lyrics, with great beats. It’s a win win for everyone involved. It makes me forget there are tears streaming down my face. KIDDING. I don’t cry that much…
While I would love to tell you what my personal fave off the album is, I figured you guys can guess and it’ll be a fun little game. I’m going to end this song with a huge ego boost for the ladies. Girlies, is there a man trying to ruin your life? Listen to this song to get tips on how to ruin his. I’m not really sure this is advice I should be giving, but HERE I AM GIVING IT ANYWAY. Blackbear sings about why girls are so hot, but also so cold. He also talks about how beautiful we are. We love to hear it. While I do feel bad that for so long he let beautiful women ruin his life, I think it’s really him passing the torch to us. We can either stay clowns like the previous song I just talked about, or we can be hot and cold. You decide. If you’re boo’d up I totally understand that you cannot participate. HOWEVER, you can appreciate this song just as much. It’s relatable for guys AND girls. Ladies, we’re beautiful. Men, admire our beauty, thanks.
So, wherever you are on this fine Saturday, I know there’s a song on this album for you. If you’re crying in bed, listen to the back half. If you’re laying by the pool, listen to the beginning half. There’s a good chunk of tunes to fit EVERY mood. I promise you.
‘Til next timeeeeeeeeeeee!
